How To Manage Hair Breakage

Dealing with hair breakage can be a frustrating experience, but with the right tips and tools, you can maintain strong, healthy hair.

Hair breakage is a common concern for most of us, whether you're a professional stylist or someone looking to maintain their hair at home.

Hair breakage occurs when strands snap, leading to shorter, uneven hair and a frizzy appearance. Several factors contribute to hair breakage, including:

  • Heat styling: Excessive use of hairdryers, straighteners, and curling irons can weaken hair.
  • Chemical treatments: Overuse of colouring, perming, and relaxing treatments can strip hair of its natural moisture.
  • Mechanical damage: Rough handling, such as aggressive brushing or towel-drying, can cause physical stress to the hair. After washing your hair we recommend using an XL Luxury Hair Wrap to stop friction on the hair to prevent breakage.
  • Environmental factors: Sun exposure and harsh weather conditions can degrade hair health.

Tips to Prevent Hair Breakage

  • Use Gentle Tools: Switch to tools that are kind to your hair. Use a wide-toothed combs and brushes with soft bristles to gently detangle your hair. We would recommend using our Luxury Wide Tooth Comb and Luxury Paddle Brush .
  • Limit Heat Styling: Try to cut back on using heat styling tools. When you do use them, apply a heat protectant spray to shield your hair from damage.

  • Keep Hair Moisturised: Well-hydrated hair is less likely to break. Use deep conditioning treatments and leave-in conditioners to keep your hair moisturised and elastic. Look for products with natural oils and proteins to strengthen your hair.

  •  Get Regular Trims: Regular trims prevent split ends from getting worse. Schedule trims every 6-8 weeks to maintain healthy ends and promote hair growth.

  • Be Careful with Chemical Treatments: Space out chemical treatments and use nourishing masks in between. Always do a strand test before trying a new chemical product to make sure it won't cause too much damage.

Our founder Nicola Wood says "Learning about hair care is key to keeping your hair healthy. Use these tips in your daily routine and find products that work best for your hair type and lifestyle.

Managing hair breakage is all about using the right techniques and tools. By being gentle with your hair, keeping it moisturised, and protecting it at night, you can reduce breakage and enjoy stronger, healthier hair."
